Bioidentical natural hormones are used for problems such as mood swings, insomnia, weight issues, and menopausal symptoms. They also support physical and mental fitness, bring improvements in hormonal issues (cellulite or overweight), and much more.
Bioidentical natural hormones are well tolerated by the body since their structure is exactly the same as that of the body’s natural hormones. They have the same effects on our hormone receptors.
The body’s natural estrogens enter our body through the skin or as drops taken sublingually. This circumvents the metabolism and does not adversely affect the liver while reducing the production of carcinogenic metabolic products to a large extent. The use of natural (micronized) progesterone also reduces the risk of thrombosis when combined with these estrogens.
Estrogens provide protection against cardiovascular disease and arteriosclerosis. This is only true of vessels that have not yet begun to calcify. This means hormone replacement therapy (HRT) should be started as early as possible (before the age of 55).
Before beginning hormone replacement therapy with bioidentical natural hormones, it is very important to record a detailed medical history. The patient’s hormone status, possibly a genetic analysis, and a gynecological exam along with a treatment plan specifically tailored to the patient’s needs, with lifestyle adaptations, are also crucial. Hormone status should be checked every three to four months after the start of treatment.
According to the latest studies, bioidentical natural hormones are low-risk. In particular, they do not increase the risk of breast cancer. They are not comparable to plant-based preparations sold over the counter in pharmacies. Phytohormones sold at pharmacies are offered as dietary supplements in different dosages. The body can tell that these hormones are not physiologically based (not naturally produced by the body). Cases of breast cancer have been reported in those taking these products. Besides that, an exact individual dose is not certain, since these products are taken orally – unlike bioidentical hormones.
